Peter M. Dix, President, 50% StockholderPeter M. Dix
President, 50% Stockholder

Pete Dix established Cobra Roofing in 1983. Founded on the principle that people are the most important part of the business, Cobra has grown to over 100 employees under his leadership.

He previously worked at Dix Corporation for 12 years. All in all, he has 34 years construction experience in business management, sales, estimating, and project management. Presently Pete is 50% owner of both Dix Corporation and Cobra Roofing Services, Inc.

Because Pete wanted to give back to the community, in 2005 he started a fundraiser called, “Tents, Hats & Champagne.” The event includes Skydivers, Parade of Horses, Art Walk, Polo Tournament, Champagne Divot Stomp, and Hat Contest. In its inaugural year, the event raised approximately $200,000. Ronald McDonald House and Make-A-Wish Foundation were the recipients of the profits.

Washington State University is his alma mater where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management.

When he isn’t working or volunteering, Pete enjoys polo, snow and water skiing, windsurfing, golf, soccer, hunting, fishing, backpacking, pickle ball, and badminton.

John Weirich, Senior Vice PresidentJohn Weirich
Senior Vice President

John Weirich was hired to implement and develop a Commercial Roof Division at Cobra Roofing Services. Working with owners, architects, developers, general contractors and manufacturers throughout the Northwest, this division is now a mainstay of the Cobra Business Plan.
 
John also advises and works with Cobra’s repair and maintenance division, along with managing all of Cobra’s estimators and project managers. John has been associated with the roofing industry since 1977.
 
John enjoys golfing, camping, baseball and his children and grandchildren.

Aaron Nuss, ControllerAaron Nuss
Controller

Aaron has been with Cobra for about two years. He has five years experience in both public and private accounting, with most of the experience in construction and tax fiscal management. Aaron manages the financial operations, insurance programs and bonding. He is also responsible for corporate banking and cash management.

Aaron has a B.A. in Business Administration from Washington State University and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant.

His interests outside of the office include spending time with his family, skiing, playing golf and attending Cougar Football games in Pullman.

Dan Collins, Corporate Secretary, Estimator/Project ManagerDan Collins
Corporate Secretary, Estimator/Project Manager

Dan joined Cobra in 1992 as a Superintendent. His first three years were spent managing the Rock Island Dam Spillway Gate Refurbishment Project. Promoted to Field Operations Manager in 1996, Dan was instrumental in developing Cobra’s high standards for field morale, teamwork, safety and quality of workmanship. His efforts were key in Cobra’s achievement of an EMR of .568, which led to national recognition through the AGC Safety Awards Program.

More recently, he has moved into Estimating and Project Management.  With a strong background in metal roofing and wall systems, Dan has extensive experience with larger projects.  He currently manages multiple long-term contracts at the Hanford Waste Treatment Plant for Bechtel National, Inc.

In 2005 Dan also served as Volunteer Coordinator, donating his time to help organize Cobra’s Polo Benefit.  He enjoys golf, snow skiing, inline skating and fishing.

Don Kunz, Field Personnel ManagerDon Kunz
Field Personnel Manager

Don joined the Cobra team in 1983, became a superintendent and worked many interesting projects. He has over 30 years industrial and commercial construction experience erecting structural steel, installing metal roofing and siding, and performing heavy rigging.

His most memorable projects were the Fairchild B-52 hangars for the US Air Force, and the American Soda plant in Parachute, Colorado. Both of these were quite a challenge for Cobra.

Soon after the completion of the Colorado project, Don moved into his present position as Field Personnel Manager.

His interests are "tinkering" and "puttering," gardening, fixing and building, growing into maturity with his sweetheart, watching his family grow and prosper, and spoiling their grandchildren.

Torben Begines, Safety DirectorTorben Begines
Safety Director

Torben has been in the construction industry for 21 years (including iron worker and steel building erector).  During his 12 years with Cobra, he started as a craftsman, worked up to foreman, and is currently Safety Director. Ensuring the training and safety of Cobra’s employees is his primary concern.

The projects at Cobra Roofing that gave him the most satisfaction were American Soda Plant, Whidbey Air Traffic Control Tower, and Masins on Main.

Torben has a crane operator certification, fork lift trainer, man-lift trainer, Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management Certification, and is currently working on Construction Site Safety Technologist and Construction Health and Safety Technician certificates, which he plans to complete by December 2006.

In his spare time, he enjoys being an umpire at different levels: Little League, High School, American Legion and, next year, Division One College. He is also Chief Umpire for District One Idaho Little League which is a year-round commitment.

Owen Hubbs, Maintenance, Repair & Small Projects Manager, Western WashingtonOwen Hubbs
Manager, Pacific Coast Operations

Owen Hubbs joined Cobra Roofing Services in 2006 to manage and grow the Western Washington Maintenance and Repair Division. He has 6 years experience in commercial construction. The past seven years he worked as a financial consultant after receiving his degree from Washington State University.

Outside the office, Owen spends time with friends and family and enjoys football and the occasional round of golf.

Estimator/Project Manager

Ron has been with Cobra Roofing for 13 years. His combined construction industry experience is 33 years.
 
Cobra projects he has managed include: Boise Westcoast Hotel, Stafford Creek Correctional Center, Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center, Morrow County Schools, Children’s Hospital, Clover Park Technical College, Mount Spokane Condos.

Ron has knowledge, skill and understanding in new roofing and re-roof, single ply, metal roofing and siding and composite panels.

Nils Brandt, Esttimator/Project ManagerNils Brandt
Estimator/Project Manager

Nils Brandt started roofing for Cobra in 1996 at Whidbey Naval Air Station on Whidbey Island, WA. He is knowledgeable in built-up, metal and single-ply roofing and metal wall panels. He has 19 years experience in the roofing/ construction industry and has been employed with Cobra Roofing for the past 10 years as General Foreman, Project Coordinator, Estimator/Project Manager.

Notable projects he has managed include the Stadium High School renovation, ASUI Kibbie Dome, Stafford Creek Correctional Facility, Mountain Home AF Base Commissary, Shopping Center and Sawtooth Parks and Recreation Information Center.

His interests include basketball, football, golf, hunting and fishing.

Scott Burns, Lead Detailer, Assistant Project ManagerScott Burns
Lead Detailer, Assistant Project Manager

Scott has 12 years of drafting and design work in the Structural Engineering field and over 15 years experience with AutoCAD and various other software programs. In 2002 he joined Cobra and has been producing shop drawings and submittals for numerous jobs as well as providing project management and estimating support.

In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, golfing, fishing and many other outdoor activities.

Lane Pearson, Maintenance & Repair Manager, Eastern WashingtonLane Pearson
Maintenance & Repair Manager, Eastern Washington

Lane has over 16 years of construction experience. A foreman for Cobra Roofing from 1996 through 1997, Lane was promoted to a General Foreman in 1997. He started the Maintenance & Repair Department in 2002.

Lane has a track record of efficiency, excellent quality and safety. His customers trust in his ability, experience and knowledge to help them maintain and repair their roofing systems.

In his free time, he enjoys traveling, horse back riding, fishing and hanging out at home with his family and friends.

Eric Francis, Small Projects/Maintenance & Repair Manager, Western WashingtonEric J. Francis
Small Projects/Maintenance & Repair Manager, Western Washington

Eric has been in the roofing and waterproofing industry for 12 years. He has experience in all phases of the roofing industry from selling and specifying commercial roofing materials/systems to consulting and estimating professional installations. Eric takes pride in meeting the roofing and waterproofing needs of building owners and agents. He uses a consultive approach to all his projects and fits the proper weatherproofing solution with his client’s goals.

When Eric is not working, he spends time with his beautiful wife, friends and family. He’s a passionate follower of motor sports especially Formula 1 and Moto GP racing. He enjoys motorcycle riding and is a practicing hacker on the golf course.

Grant Furness, Estimator/Project ManagerGrant Furness
Estimator/Project Manager

Grant has approximately ten years experience in construction. He has worked on and led projects, both in the public and private sectors, erecting buildings of all construction types. Grant is an alumnus of Washington State University. During his free time, Grant enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking and almost any other outdoor activity.

Called to active duty in Iraq, January 2007.

Brian Field, Estimator/Project ManagerBrian Field
Estimator/Project Manager

Brian started working in the construction industry in 1996. He worked eight years for a general contractor before switching to the subcontractor’s side.  He’s been an estimator, a project engineer, and an assistant project manager, and has worked in Idaho, Oregon, and California. When not working on his house, Brian enjoys off-roading in his truck, riding his quads, or downhill skiing.
